This is because a certain amount of room has to be left for the propane’s vapor to expand. Therefore, it is recommended to have your tank refilled before your level drops to 20%. This helps you avoid running out of a propane supply completely. If you do let the level drop to 20% or below, you’ll need more propane immediately. Staying above this 20% mark gives you a little more time to order a refill and set up a convenient delivery.
